I think it's too easy to argue that it is not necessary. The real question is, it is a good method to instill moral, ethical behavior? Or, is it ethical to have religion be the guide for ethical/moral behavior?

Tx Mike for leaving a pre-mtg comment, and to those who came. I always enjoy all the view points we discuss and the energy it creates.
I really enjoyed a comment made about religion not causing the actual violence, but people's perception of religion, and at times using it as an excuse or scapegoat for their actions.
