Dispossessed and persecuted, a band of Rebetes, musicians and singers of the Greek "Blues," struggle in the early decades of 20th century Greece as their music evolves and flourishes. The drama follows the life of their female singer as history unfolds. Based on the life of Rebetissa, Marika Ninou, and called "one of the most absorbing and
provocative films to come out of the Hellenic Republic," Rembetiko features the score of renowned composer Stavros Xarhakos.
